Maria Niswonger of Flushing, age 95, died Monday, March 26, 2012 at Fostrian Manor. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at Rossell Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. Committal services will be conducted at the funeral home. A private burial will be at Flint Memorial Park.

Maria was born in Mitchell, Nebraska on November 7, 1916, the daughter of Phillip and Elizabeth (Treiblehorn) Eitel. She married Harvey Niswonger in Angola, Indiana on January 2, 1937. He preceded her in death November 8, 1999. Maria had been a member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.

Surviving are: children, Martha Ingalls of Newport, NC, Harvey Niswonger, Jr. of Flint, Albert and wife Debbie Niswonger of Mt. Morris, and Lynn and wife Diane Niswonger of Flushing; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Albert and wife Helen Eitel of Flint; many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Alan Ingalls and granddaughter, Sheryl Ingalls.
