Joseph Faris of Flushing, age 86, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at home. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Road, Flint. Fr. Paul Tarabay officiating. Entombment will be at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Rossell Funeral Home. The Incensing Service will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church or the Salvation Army.
Joseph was born in Flint, Michigan on July 14, 1925, the son of George and Mary (Sarrough) Faris. He married Marylin Lee on October 6, 1986 at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, Flint. Joseph was a Stock Broker for Roney and Company, now known as Raymond James. He had also co-owned Faris Furniture. He was a founding member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, an usher, and also headed the finance committee. Joseph was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran.
Surviving are: wife, Marylin; daughter, Pam and husband John Cherry; son, Jeff and wife Sue Faris; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; siblings, Helen and husband Ralph Burgess, Phil and wife Marie Faris, Eddie and wife Carol Faris; sister-in-law, Genie Faris; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joey Faris; brother, Raymond Faris; sister, Josephine Knight.
